On Awards, and being named as the “Best of Business” IT services firm in NH for a second year

We’d like to thank the Academy…

“Best of Business” IT services firm in NHWe’ve all seen the Hollywood awards shows where everyone gets together, dresses to the nines, and engages in a hearty round of self-congratulations. At last year’s Golden Globe Awards, however, Jim Carrey hilariously cut through the pomp and circumstance and gave the other actors at the awards show a little tongue-in-cheek perspective.

“Thank you, I am two-time Golden Globe winner Jim Carrey. You know, when I go to sleep at night, I’m not just a guy going to sleep. I’m two-time Golden Globe winner Jim Carrey going to get some well-needed shut-eye.

And when I dream, I don’t just dream any old dream. No, sir. I dream about being three-time Golden Globe–winning actor Jim Carrey.

Because then I would be enough. It would finally be true, and I could stop this – this terrible search, for what I know ultimately won’t fulfill me.

But these are important, these awards.

I don’t want you to think that just because if you blew up our solar system alone you wouldn’t be able to find us or any of human history with the naked eye.

But from our perspective, this is huge.”

*You can view the whole clip here – his comedic timing is spot on.*

But as much as Hollywood sometimes needs this perspective to bring them down a peg, the flip side is also true. Awards truly are important.

Awards or honors of various kinds have been used by human societies from time immemorial, not primarily for self-congratulations, but to encourage others towards excellence and virtue. Examples in western civilization abound, from the laurel wreaths given to the great athletes of the Greco-Roman period, to the jeweled rings given to medieval tournament winners, to the Nobel prizes given out today for disciplines that range from literature to physics.

These awards give us examples to follow and be inspired by and, as a result, encourage us to become more like the people we honor.

That’s why we are so grateful to have been named for the second year in a row as the 2017 “Best of Business” IT Service firm in New Hampshire. We have looked to many of the other companies honored by NHBR as examples of excellence and quality for us to follow, and so are thankful and humbled to be named amongst them.

What makes this award even more special is that these winners are chosen, not simply be a small award panel, but by many thousands of people across the state. Our sincere thanks to all of our clients and supporters who believed us to be worthy of the honor, and we will continue to strive to prove them right!
