What is your role at Mainstay?
My role at Mainstay is to find and implement the most efficient solutions to problems that are more involved, or generally complex and time consuming.
What are your technology specialties?
I would say I am more of a handyman kind of IT guy. I am good at taking information for infrastructures and software that I may have never seen before, and determining the best way to work with them or implement solutions for them.
What professional events do you participate in, or what skills or accomplishments have you attained, that sets you apart?
In High School, I competed in a statewide IT / Networking competition and placed 2nd!
What was your first memory of using computers?
My first memory of using a computer was around late 1999 with a Windows 95 machine we had. I don’t really remember if it had internet, but I would tinker with the Windows files to cause issues and then figure out how to fix them. My family was not very appreciative of that.
When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…
I can usually be found playing music on my guitar or bass or learning about cars and astronomy.
What is something unique about you?
I am the type of person that learns best by teaching myself. Besides learning about new and emerging technologies, I like to teach myself some foreign language in my free time. Hejsa! Hvordan går det?
If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be and why would you go there?
If I could go anywhere for a month I would travel between several Scandinavian Countries. I would probably start in Denmark, then go to Sweden, Norway, The Faroe Islands, Iceland, and Greenland. There are a lot of wonderful landscapes and things to do over in that part of the world that I think people can forget about with all the other popular travel destinations. It would also give me a chance to practice some language I have taught myself with native speakers.
What are you most frequently heard listening to?
I can be heard listening to anything from classic progressive rock like Rush, to funk/ alternative such as Jamaroquai and Red Hot Chili Peppers, to more modern and heavier music like Metallica and Shinedown.
What is one thing you love about your career?
The best thing for me about working in IT is there is never a “typical” day. There will be new issues every day and technology is constantly changing. I would get really bored doing the same thing every day.
What is one thing everyone should know about Mainstay Technologies?
The people that work here are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They make sure from the start that you have all the tools to do your job. Mainstay also takes a different approach on customer service in the technology field. In a field where equipment could be sold at a high margin to a non-technical person or company, Mainstay makes sure their clients are always getting the best equipment and makes sure they understand exactly what they are getting.
