What professional events do you participate in, or what skills or accomplishments have you attained, that sets you apart?
My most recent experience was in customer service in some pretty high-stress environments. Learning quickly how to assess customer needs, I’m able to provide accurate and relevant solutions in a timely manner. I’ve taken these skills with me into the cyber security field where in addition to my work at Mainstay, I’ve earned my CompTIA Security+ and will be completing my Master of Science in Cyber Security come May of 2021.
What was your first memory of using computers?
From my childhood, I remember playing Carmen San Diego, Lego Island, and Space Cadet pinball on my Dad’s Windows 98 office computer with my brother. Lego Island’s graphics were particularly amazing.
What was the last great book you read?
In 2020, I read Shogun by James Clavell on my kindle and didn’t realize how long it was, over 900 pages! The book was a long lesson in patience and discipline for me and showcased a very different way of life from what I’m used to.
What is a silly or interesting event that you’ve participated in previously, and what did you take away from the experience?
My best friend convinced me to sign up for a drama play during our senior year of college. I ended up in a one-act version of Romeo and Juliet as Mercutio, and Juliet’s Father (a sub-in role for Juliet’s Mother). I was terrified heading into opening night and was so stressed that I forgot a few lines from my big speech. My director reminded me to relax, and to enjoy myself, and remember the work I’d done to get there. It was a great moment of reassurance and turned into one of my fondest memories of senior year.
What would you do if you had an extra 5 hours every week?
With 5 extra hours each week, I’d use it for guitar practice. I’m determined to play Hotel California by Eagles all the way through, without error and I need all the practice time I can get.
If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be and what would you do?
If I had a full month to go anywhere, I would go to New Zealand to see the landscape which I came to know from my intense fandom of the Lord of the Rings movies. I’ve always dreamed of seeing the infamous hobbit hole, the sky-scraping mountains, and the grassy hillsides in real life, not just on the screen.
What are you most frequently heard listening to?
At home, Lo-fi hip hop. It’s easy listening for work, reading, exercising, cooking, and relaxing. In my car on the road, I’m listening to whatever 92.5 The River is playing, the best radio station around, in my opinion at least.
Favorite sports teams?
The Boston Celtics. Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett defined my formative sports fan years.
