What is your role at Mainstay?
I ensure our clients receive information security assessments and support. As a team, we are always working to assess the client’s information security risk with the goal of mitigating as much of that risk as possible. Each project is so different, and a client may want us to introduce as many improvements as quickly as possible, work with them over time to gradually implement our recommendations, or somewhere in between. In any scenario, I am responsible to make sure we have resources ready for our clients when they need us.
What was the last great book you read?
I am a complete bookworm and I’m always juggling a few books at once. While I really don’t have a favorite book because I am always finding something I love even more than the last book I read, I tend to gravitate towards science fiction and horror for my “fun” reading choices, or non-fiction books that challenge me to keep learning about subjects that interest me – particularly regarding culture or sociology. In the past year I have read We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi and Blood in the Water by Heather Ann Thompson and I would encourage others to do the same – both provide incredibly thought-provoking insights on topics I am passionate about.
What would you do if you had an extra 5 hours every week?
I am very fortunate to have an amazing husband, and we both come from remarkably loving and supportive families that live within an hour from us. Life is so short, and if I had an extra 5 hours of time every week, I would want to spend it with them.
What are you most frequently heard listening to?
I vacillate mainly between hip-hop & alternative, depending on mood or activity.
What is one thing you love about your career?
I love the balance of working with clients and with our team – I get to be a part of projects on both sides, which keeps things interesting and requires me to constantly be learning. One of the best things about having a career at Mainstay is that those around you want you to be both happy and successful here, and there is a conscious effort to help you find what you enjoy doing, what you excel at, and where you can grow.
What is one thing everyone should know about Mainstay Technologies?
Every other team member has similar responses about how great Mainstay is, and throughout my hiring process I wasn’t sure that it could truly be THAT awesome. Now that I’m here, I would say: believe the hype! Every day I am surrounded by professionals that are insanely talented, always willing to share their knowledge and learn from one another, and put clients and the team above themselves.
