Hometown?

Miranda Chalmers

My childhood was spent in Lake Worth, Florida but most of my life was spent in the Appalachian Mountains in a small North Carolina town named Murphy.

What professional events do you participate in, or what skills or accomplishments have you attained, that sets you apart?

Currently, I am pursing my master’s degree in Information Systems with a graduate certificate in business analytics.

What was your first memory of using computers?

When I was in second grade, I remember being in an advanced reading and linguistics class. We were learning to spell the names of dinosaurs one week and we had to search how to spell Tyrannosaurus Rex for a spelling test. That is the first time I remember my mother using the family computer, since no one in my family knew how to spell it.

When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…?

Usually playing with my toddler or out on the golf course playing golf. I also enjoy reading a good book or playing my flute.

What was the last great book you read?

I love to read a lot of different books, but recently I finished Ready Player One, on the recommendation of a friend. It’s set in the future and the planet is on the brink of chaos and collapse, but people find salvation in an expansive virtual reality universe. It was a great story and as usual, the movie does it no justice!

What is something unique about you?

When I was in high school and college, I was a pageant queen, earning titles such as Miss North Georgia and Miss Asheville Marti-Gras. I have always been very active in my community, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity or the Lions Club of Georgia.

What would you do if you had an extra 5 hours every week?

I would probably spend the time working on home projects or re-modeling my house, but I would really love to sleep an extra 5 hours too!

If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be?

Definitely a cabin in the woods with my husband and daughter, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We would spend time together outside, exploring creeks, building bonfires, and reading.

What are you most frequently heard listening to?

It really depends on what I’m doing. If I am cleaning or doing remodeling, I will jam out to hard rock and metal music. If I am concentrating it’s smooth jazz or classical. If I am driving it is an eclectic playlist of everything, and I am whole-heartedly singing along!

Favorite sports teams?

I am a born and bred Pittsburgh Steelers Fan!
