What is your role at Mainstay?
I work with our clients on a strategic level to not only solve their immediate problems but also to help craft long-term plans that account for their future needs in this ever-evolving technical environment.
What are your technology specialties?
I specialize in Windows software portfolio and have a lot of experience in healthcare and mobile user applications.
What was your first memory of using computers?
I started using computers when I entered high school. Back then upgrading from a 14.4 modem to a 28.8 modem was a big for those of us on AOL and playing Command and Conquer.
When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…
Farming, gardening and homesteading. Teaching my kids about animal husbandry, sustainability and beyond organic agriculture is something I’m pretty passionate about.
What was the last great book you read?
The Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown. Break the chains!
What would you do if you had an extra 5 hours every week?
With an extra 5 hours every week, I would definitely finally write my book, an epic space opera. OR think up more ways to procrastinate doing so, whichever comes first.
What are you most frequently heard listening to?
Mostly I consume a high volume of podcasts about business, self-reliance, and agriculture; sci-fi audiobooks, and Youtube videos that are too boring to watch but great to listen to in the background.
What is one thing you love about your career?
It is both fascinating and challenging in its variety. Every day is a new puzzle to solve or a new way to look at a puzzle you have already solved so that you can solve it again in a completely different way. What I love most though is building systems – fitting together complex pieces of technology that perform an integral job in the background every second of every day, and trying to build them in the simplest, most elegant way possible.
