What is your role at Mainstay?
I’ve been working for Mainstay for several years now. I started as a desktop technician and moved into the Response Services role. I have built long lasting relationships with clients over the years and it’s one of the many things I enjoy while in this role. Each day brings new puzzles to solve as new software and ever evolving technology is introduced into the networks we support.
What was your first memory of using computers?
My first memory of computers was being so excited to play Doom on DOS. My Dad spent hours learning how to set it up. I only remember typing the letter “D” and hitting enter. Ah, the good old days.
When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…
I enjoy the outdoors quite a bit. I enjoy hiking new trails, whether it’s in the mountains or through parks nearby. I mountain bike through the woods quite a bit. Perhaps an upgraded bike is in order soon! Fishing and camping with the family have always been a great pastime and we try to get a group camping trip each year; so far so good.
If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be and why would you go there?
I have always wanted to go to Japan. The people, culture, and history has always fascinated me. There is an extremely long bike route you can take that goes between multiple islands and has many stops along the way. I am huge into exotic and fine foods so trying every restaurant and street food vendor would be on the top of the list.
What are you most frequently heard listening to?
I listen most often to documentaries about history, and podcasts or videos about physics, astronomy, and biology. Listening to music to comes and goes in stages. It could be country one week and swing over to rock then go to electronic. Whatever the day calls for!
What is one thing you love about your career?
Building the trust relationship with clients. Knowing that when they need help, clients are confident they are in good hands and their data and equipment will be treated with care. Fixing a complex and difficult issue can also be the highlight of my day too!
