Cameron Fischer

Hometown?

I was born in San Antonio, TX, but grew up in Fort Collins, CO.

What are your technology specialties?

My specialties are Active Directory, Office365, and Windows system management.

What was your first memory of using computers?

When I was 8 years old, my parents acquired an old Packard Bell PC with 16 MB of RAM and a 1 GB HDD as a family computer. I wasted no time in taking it apart to see how it worked and broke it soon after as a result. A first great learning experience!

When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…?

You’ll find me playing guitar, working on my cars and motorcycle, or doing home renovations.

What was the last great book you read?

The last great book I read was “Basic Economics” by Thomas Sowell

What is something unique about you?

One of my side jobs previously was as an independent producer running my own recording studio.

What is a silly or interesting event that you’ve participated in previously, and what did you take away from the experience?

I used to participate in a game club that included everything from video games to Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons. I learned that going outside of your comfort zone to try new things is a great way to develop meaningful connections with people, even complete strangers.

What would you do if you had an extra 5 hours every week?

With more time, I’d definitely spend it reading and learning a new skill, or finish building my motorcycle.

If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be?

For an entire month, I would travel to Hahei Beach in New Zealand. I went there in 2016 and it’s one of my favorite spots in the world to relax.

What are you most frequently heard listening to?

Various kinds of metal bands. I got into that style of music with bands like August Burns Red and As I Lay Dying, which fueled my passion for playing guitar and drums, and I’m always looking for new music.
