What is your role at Mainstay?

As President of Mainstay, I’m responsible for leading our unified IT and Cybersecurity teams as well as Research & Development (R&D) to deliver progressive service and security for our client partners. This integrated responsibility assures our clients that we’re not only committed to leading and delivering exceptional IT services but also partnering to protect their business through enterprise-level information security solutions.

What was your first memory of using computers?

I remember as a child playing on the commodore 64 (Those early DOS role playing games kept me amused for weeks at a time), the first Macintosh and the Tandy 1000. I’ll never forget the Christmas when I opened the Atari 2600 and I thought “there will never be anything more magical than this!” I was very wrong as the magic continues to evolve. This year I worked with my 15-year-old son to implement a new gaming pc and virtual reality system. It’s all still a lot of fun for me.

When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…

Spending time with my family and all of our animals on our “mini-farm”, reading or watching sports, shows and movies.

What was the last great book you read?

I really enjoy reading whenever I can and listening to audiobooks when commuting and working around the yard. I have to break this up into categories. When I need mindless escape, my favorites are from authors like George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), Joe Abercrombie (The first Law Trilogy), J.R.R. Tolkein (Lord of the Rings) and Stephen King (The Dark Tower Series). When I need to sharpen the leadership and professional saw I enjoy authors like Daniel Goleman (Working with Emotional Intelligence), Jim Collins (Great by Choice) and Stephen Covey (7 Habits). Finally, when I need to focus on what is most important and need my spirit uplifted I read anything that ties back to the Bible.

If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be and why would you go there?

My wife and I visited the countryside of Ireland once together and it touched our spirits and we found amazing peace and beauty there. We were there for less than a week and it had such a lasting impact. I would love to go back someday together to take our time exploring more of it.

What are you most frequently heard listening to?

I’m all over the place with my music and have three children that have influenced me with their music as well. I literally have Ed Sheeran, Bob Marley, Alice in Chains, Hall & Oats, Fun., Charlie Puth, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Elton John, Billy Joel, Adele, Metallica, Darius Rucker, Macklemore, Sam Smith and Sam Cooke all in the same playlist! You play it, I’ll listen and enjoy.

What is your favorite sports team?

I “live and die” with the Red Sox and love the Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. Any team that my kids have played on were also my favorites!

What is one thing you love about your career?

This has changed for me over time. Early on I enjoyed just being able to provide for my family by working in a technology profession that I am passionate about. Now, in addition, there is no greater joy for me than creating opportunities for others and seeing people I care for reach their goals and succeed.

What is one thing that everyone should know about Mainstay?

Everyone should know that Mainstay is legit! What do I mean by that? Mainstay is full of high performers that really care about improving the lives and business success of our customers. The organizations mission, vision and core values is what attracted me to Mainstay and I’m happy to report that they practice what they preach.
