Barbara Dadian

Barbara DadianWhat is your role at Mainstay?

Perform financial and accounting related activities in the area of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

What are your technology specialties?

Accounting, Finance, MS Word and Excel, Quick Books

What professional events do you participate in, or what skills or accomplishments have you attained, that set you apart?

I currently hold a BS in Accounting, and have been the financial manager for my husband’s business over the last 15 years. I also have also worked for a local Christian school(LCA) in the area of finance for the last 5 years.

What was your first memory of using computers?

In college I used an Apple Computer that took 5.25” floppy disks! My first personal computer was an IBM laptop with no hard-drive, but it was considered “newer technology”, as it had a 3.5” floppy disk drive instead of the 5.25” floppy!

When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…

…spending time with my family! I also really enjoy the water (lake, ocean or pools) and walking on the beach “treasure hunting” in the sand, especially with my kids! You can also find me “yard sale & thrift shopping”, watching movies with the family, cooking, bicycling around town, target shooting, and of course reading (I always carry reading material for those “down” moment). I just love to learn and try to incorporate this learning into my everyday life!

What was the last great book you read?

I enjoy reading various memoirs, history or historical fiction, how-to books, and the Bible.

What is something unique about you?

In years past, I home schooled our four kids, mostly until high school. This experience drew us close as a family and gave me a unique appreciation for teachers. Another activity I participated in was a production of Fiddler on the Roof. I played the part of Golde, and my husband played the part of Tevre; we had lots of fun! It’s amazing what can be accomplished, even when you think you don’t have time. I now also have a new appreciation for the entire stage production process.

If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be and why would you go there?

Travel with family through Western United States, visiting other family members and stopping along the way to enjoy various historical sites. I could also be convinced to take a guided tour with my husband through various European countries, enjoying the various foods, wines and peoples!

What are you most frequently heard listening to?

Well…it depends! If I’m cleaning the house, it might be “oldies” with a fast tempo. If it’s working in an office, usually something of a classical genre (symphonic or piano). I generally listen with Pandora (because it’s free!), and listen to various A Capella groups, also Fernando Ortega, Selah, and David Nevue.

What is one thing you love about your career?

Although I consider my family, my “career”, I do get to work alongside a great group of professionals, that when combined as a team, we help other businesses and municipalities run smoothly, enabling those companies to do what they do best, all the while doing what I really enjoy!

What is one thing that everyone should know about Mainstay?
