What are your technology specialties?

Over the past 18 years, I’ve primarily worked with Microsoft, VMWare, Dell, and Cisco infrastructure hardware and software. My last role was IS Operations Manager, where I oversaw the Technical Support Analysts, Systems Administrators, and Network Engineers. This included problem and project management. Before that, I worked for 8 years on designing and implementing new hardware/software solutions as a Senior Network Engineer.

What professional events do you participate in, or what skills or accomplishments have you attained, that sets you apart?

I received a Bachelor’s degree for Information Technology in 2017, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in 2008 (which is still current), and MCSE in Windows 2000. Most recently, I obtained training certificates in the robotic process automation software UiPath, including RPA Developer Advanced.

What was your first memory of using computers?

Probably on an Apple IIe in my grade school classroom, playing Oregon Trail. My parents had the foresight to get me a Tandy 1000 computer for Christmas one year instead of a Nintendo…31 years later and here I am still messing with computers!

When you’re not found in front of a computer you are…

Hanging out with my wife, two kids, and two new dachshund puppies. We are homebodies, but do get out for hikes and visiting family and friends. In the summer we just like hanging out by the pool, relaxing, and enjoying being outdoors in the backwoods of Concord. Oh, and there is a fair amount of gaming going on too! Nintendo and PlayStation are our all time go-to.

What was the last great book you read?

I’m an inspirational/business audio book junkie. I recently listened to “A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy” by William B. Irvine. Some of my favorites are “Mindset” by Carol Dweck, “Quiet” by Susan Cain, “The Phoenix Project” by Gene Kim, and “Smarter Faster Better” by Charles Duhigg.

What is something unique about you?

I took Muay Thai kickboxing lessons for 8 years, and have a tiny bit of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA training. I’ve done a fair amount of sparring, but never participated in any actual fights. Getting your lunch taken in a sparring session is an incredibly humbling experience to say the least!

What would you do if you had an extra 5 hours every week?

I think instead of having more time I’d rather have more energy, consistently throughout the day. If I could take a 25 minute nap every few hours, that would be great.

If you could go anywhere for an entire month, where would it be and why would you go there?

I’d go with my wife and kids to Hawaii and or Japan. I’ve never been to either. Hawaii to enjoy the beautiful beaches and take up surfing, and Japan for the interesting culture.

What are you most frequently heard listening to?

Classic, Hard, and Alternative rock mostly. Anything from AC/DC and Metallica, to Rage Against the Machine and Foo Fighters, to Incubus and Twenty-One Pilots. Throw in a little Tom Petty to mellow things out a bit.

Favorite sports teams?

I support all the local teams, but I follow the Patriots (since the Bledsoe/Parcells era) and Red Sox the closest.
